Rituals

Every home has its way. This is ours.

How to serve it

A little, slowly and in good company.

There are no written rules, only the habits of a house. These are the ones at our table.

  1. In a small glass or tumbler. A little, slowly.
  2. At room temperature, so the cinnamon and raisin can speak.
  3. On a hot day, a few minutes in the fridge cools it without dulling its aromas.

The toast

Three clinks of the glass,
and the family is whole again.

At the table

When to pour it, and with what.

Moments

  • The conversation that lingers after lunch
  • The arrival of someone who lived far away
  • A toast to good news
  • Afternoon coffee with the neighbours
  • A gift for whoever invites you to dinner

What to pair it with

  • Madeira honey cake
  • Aged cheeses
  • Toasted walnuts and almonds
  • Dark chocolate
  • A short espresso

House suggestions

These are not tradition, just our own ideas for anyone who wants to try.

  • Over vanilla ice cream. A small pour, and dessert is ready.

  • Tim Tam Tum affogato. Ice cream, an espresso and a spoonful of liqueur.

  • Long and fresh. 40 ml Tim Tam Tum, ice, tonic and a strip of orange peel.

  • With bolo de mel. A small glass on the side and, if you like, a little poured over the cake, as in so many homes on the island.

Your table

You set the table; leave the bottle to us.

We make only a few bottles in each batch. Write to us and we will reply personally, so the next long lunch at your home has its toast too.
